She was walking blindfolded with him leading the way. They chatted, laughed, bantered along the way and somehow she felt safe despite the blindfolds for it was him guiding her along. At times the path was pebbly and uneven and she struggled to maintain the same momentum as there was no signal from him to slow down or stop. Surely he must know what he is doing. She pressed on unquestioningly.
They came to the top of a steep slope dampened by rain. Unaware, she proceeded down the slippery path. There were no words of caution from him, no clear indication given to her to tread carefully. He continued walking, glad to have her company but turning a blind eye to the plausible dangers of trekking down the path.
Alas, she slipped and fell. Face-down, hard.
The words of apology were fast and profuse but useless nevertheless for more could have been said at an earlier opportune moment.
